King Pharmaceuticals Has Recalled Levoxyl Tablets

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released the following information.

PRODUCT
Levoxyl Tablets,(Levothyroxine Sodium Tablets, USP), 112 mcg, 1000 tablet bottles, Rx only. Recall # D-280-3.

CODE
Lot No. 7941, Exp. Date 05/2004.

RECALLING FIRM/MANUFACTURER
King Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bristol, TN, by letters on June 18, 2003. Firm initiated recall is ongoing.

REASON
Tablet mixup; bottles labeled to contain Levoxyl 112 mcg were found to contain Levoxyl and Soloxine 0.2 mg tablets (Vet/Animal brand-Levothyroxine).

VOLUME OF PRODUCT IN COMMERCE
2,639 bottles.
