If there is a member of your family -- a parent, aunt, uncle or  grandparent --who has bad lungs and trouble breathing it can be sad, scary and confusing. Don't worry if you are confused about lung disease. Most adults don't really understand all there is about Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, commonly called COPD, which causes breathing problems.

Here you will find answers to your questions about lung disease and how it affects you and your loved ones. This is a place where you can share your feelings and thoughts. Here you can ask any and all questions you may have and share your concerns with others, much like yourself, in the Chat Room and Message Board.

Yes, it is scary when someone you love suffers from breathing problems, but know that they can still live a productive life if they take good care of themselves and follow their doctor's orders.

Sharing your thoughts and feelings with others about a loved one who is sick will help lessen the fear and worry that comes when those we care about are seriously ill.

A Note for Parents:

Explore the Internet with your children. It's the best way to see what they see online. There are plenty of kid-friendly sites; help your kids find them, and explain why it's best to be careful not to give out their real name and address in chat rooms, to online pen pals and on bulletin boards.

Teach your children the meaning of privacy and personal — or family — information.  Encourage them to post messages only with your permission and supervision.
