Bill Horden

I am a long-term sufferer of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), a combination (in my case) of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and asthma. A side effect of the COPD is the recent development of angina and atrial tachycardia. My condition is sufficiently severe as to require the use of supplemental oxygen, 24 hours a day.

Thanks to my participation in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation (or "wellness") program offered by St. Jude Medical Center, Fullerton, California, and continued exercise and support-group participation, I am relatively active and lead an interesting and rewarding life.

I call myself an "Impatient Advocate" of pulmonary Rehabilitation and of better and more assertive treatment of pulmonary disease. Several papers I have written have been well received by both patients and health care providers, and are reproduced here for public review and use.
